How to find Blacktail Enterprises and Rain Forest Sawmill

Now operating as Rain Forest Sawmill, we are located in Black Creek on Vancouver Island, in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Black Creek is South of Campbell River and North of Courtenay and Merville. It is also East of Mount Washington and Strathcona Provincial Park and West of Miracle Beach Provincial Park. Yup, we're plum in the middle of all that nature! Before you take the time to drive out to us, though, please make sure we are expecting you. That way, we can have someone on hand to help you, without the need to stop production.

Route from Highway 19: If you are driving North from Courtenay or Merville, or South from Campbell River, this route is a bit easier as you just turn off Highway 19 (aka the Inland Island Highway) at exit number 144, and drive East along Hamm Road, known as the Miracle Beach Connector. Then, when you reach Macaulay Road, just before you reach highway 19A, turn left on Macaulay Road and, after seven kilometres, turn right on Martin Park Drive and then right again to number 9307 Martin Park Drive so that you go the shortest distance around the loop that circles a lake. Enter the unpaved driveway and drive up until you see signs for the mill, which direct you left and then straight ahead.

Route from Highway 19A: Your second option is to take the Island Highway, also known as Highway 19A, from Courtenay or Campbell River. Turn West off the highway onto the Miracle Beach Connector and almost immediately right on Macaulay Road. After seven kilometres, turn right on Martin Park Drive and then right again to number 9307 Martin Park Drive so that you go the shortest distance around the loop that circles a lake. Enter the unpaved driveway and drive up until you see signs for the mill, which direct you left and then straight ahead.

If you live on the mainland of British Columbia then your best bet would be to take a ferry or sea plane to Nanaimo and drive North either on Highway 19 or on Highway 19A, as laid out above.

If you are in another country and wish to visit, then the quickest way is to take a plane to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and then another, smaller, plane to Comox Airport (YQQ). You can then contact us by phone about the final 40 kilometres between Comox airport and our mill.
